“You feel as if you’ve touched the heart of the place. That’s a way of understanding. Seeing something that you never saw before, that was always there but you were blind to it.” ~ Andy Goldsworthy A few weeks ago I took my first backpacking trip with a friend. We went to Dolly Sods in WV....and with it being the end of September and the leaves changing, it was absolutely breathtaking. I found this time away valuable and inspiring. It is important that we step away for just a bit to observe our surroundings....to change the view. It reminded me of the days when I used to paint. How important it was to step far away from the canvas and look at the entire image. When one forgets to do so, you lose sight of what you are really expressing as an artist and you become so involved in just one specific area of the painting. You lose the view of what it is exactly that you are working towards. Similar to everything else we experience in life, its important that we try something new. So much of what we make or do can be easily influenced and inspired by our surroundings or an experience. We are artists, and we are made up of so much more than just art...and art can be found anywhere in anything. Lunch break... How do I put these colors on a pot? Last day backpacking...Chance and I completed the two days and are ready for another adventure.
