“She had just realized there were two things that prevent us from achieving our dreams: believing them to be impossible or seeing those dreams made possible by some sudden turn of the wheel of fortune, when you least expected it. For at that moment, all our fears suddenly surface: the fear of setting off along a road heading who knows where, the fear of a life full of new challenges, the fear of losing forever everything that is familiar.” ― Paulo Coelho 'The Devil and Miss Prym' The morning after the exhibition was spent sipping coffee, at my spot, from a mug that did not find a home last night at the show. The fog over the river was eerie yet comforting...similar to that of the quiet I'm experiencing at this very moment.
Last night the gallery was filled with the energy of everyone who came out to support the art center and us artists. The same energy that has been taking over each day leading up to the exhibition. And now....quiet. It's refreshing and unsettling all at the same time. I'm ready to begin making again. It has been almost a month since I've made, while in the midst of everything leading up to the show. I am happy with my work on display in the gallery, but I feel even more excited about the work that is to come. The opportunity to have time again, to push these ideas and surfaces, and to take this body of work even further. |
