Trying some new designs for handles.....Ive been trying to focus on the negative space of the handle and the area of attachment to the cup. I had been working hard on feeling comfortable with throwing square plates. My friend Lisa York had visited china recently and I decided to put the bamboo brush she gifted me to hard work. I took inspiration from my latest print in my sketchbook to create a simple, but elegant design on the plates with a flashing slip. Plans to use wax over the slip design with a shino glaze in the soda kiln will hopefully bring great results. I've always enjoyed making teapots but never felt very confident in making them and their success. This week I was inspired by a teapot by Judith Duff, and even if they arent the best teapots, I learned so much about handles, spouts, and the process of assembling a teapot.
